MOJA Tanzania

Vorig jaar steunden we met de opbrengst van de sobere maaltijd en de twaalfurenloop een mooi project in Tanzania. En intussen kregen we post met een mooie update!

Dear Students, Teachers, and Staff of Sint-Jans College,
Many greetings from Tanzania.
Just a few weeks ago, you welcomed us into your school, listened to the story of Moja Family and the students of Uraki Secondary School in Tanzania, and responded with compassion by choosing to help.

Today, we are delighted to share that the Uraki Sanitation Improvement Project has been successfully completed.

On 28 July 2026, we officially handed over the completed facilities to the students, the school leadership, and the Meru District Council in Tanzania.
Thanks to your generosity, together with the support of our donors and partners, we were able to complete the project which included the construction and improvement of essential sanitation facilities for the school.
The completed project includes:
● 18 modern tiled toilet cubicles (10 for boys, 6 for girls, and 2 for teachers)
● 2 large tiled corridors
● A girls’ shower room with five water outlets
● A complete water supply system connected to every toilet
● A water storage tank with its stand
● 25 water taps
● 14 toilet sinks
● 4 handwashing stations
● 2 accessible toilets for students with disabilities
● A large sanitary waste incinerator
● Electricity, lighting, mirrors, and all finishing works
More importantly, this project has given hundreds of students access to clean, safe, and dignified sanitation facilities. Girls now have a private and hygienic space, students have reliable access to water and handwashing facilities, and the entire school community has a healthier learning environment.
During the handover ceremony, we reminded the students that these facilities now belong to them. We encouraged them to take pride in them, care for them, and preserve them so that future generations of Uraki students will benefit for many years to come.

Empowering youth and families with knowledge, opportunity, and hope. Together.

We also shared an important message with the school leadership and the Meru District Council: the value of a donation does not end when construction is completed. Its true impact continues when the facilities are maintained, protected, and used responsibly for years to come.
None of this would have been possible without you all. Your willingness to listen, your enthusiasm to help, and the effort you put into raising these funds have made a lasting difference in the lives of students you may never meet, but who will remember the impact of your kindness every day they walk into their new facilities.
On behalf of the students and teachers of Uraki Secondary School, the Meru District Council, and the entire Moja Family team here in Tanzania, we thank you for believing that young people can make a difference in the lives of other young people.
Your generosity has built more than toilets, it has restored dignity, promoted health, and created a better learning environment for generations to come.
We are deeply grateful for your partnership.
Ahsante Sana,
The Moja Family Team Tanzania – 2026.
