English Workshops Abbie Moore
In recent years, Abbie has become a familiar face at SJC. As the founder of Hello Drama, she runs English workshops for secondary schools. She encourages pupils to speak English, and she brings enthusiasm, experience and a ton of energy to the job. This year, she immersed the fourth graders in a Crime Scene Investigation, treated the third grade to some British food, and engaged the second grade in drama games.
Here’s what some of the participants had to say:
It was nice speaking to a person whose native language was english, I really liked her accent. The assignments were creative and I enjoyed them. I liked that the groups kept changing so you could work together with different people. Abbie seemed really enthosiastic and really sweet. Overall, it was a nice workshop. (Chloé)
It was a nice workshop, it was kind of a teambuilding for the class. I had fun and it helped me improvise while speaking english. She’s understanding and teaches well. (Yasemin)
It definitely is worth your time because you learn a language best when you speak it. In this workshop, you talk a lot and play fun games; therefore, you listen carefully and really focus on your English. The subject of the workshop also aligns with the book, so it’s a perfect introduction. (Daan)
It was a very creative and fun way to practice our English. The workshop was put together very well and the fact that a prize was promised to us, made us motivated and made sure that we, teenagers, participated. (Alice)
It was very exciting and I had fun, because the games were nice. I learnt new vocabulary during the workshop. I was very happy that we did the workshop, because it was a lot nicer then a normal lesson and I didn’t look at the clock. (Senne)
